Every tote keeps a page.
Each Jindai Tote is numbered. Which board it was cut from, when it was joined, what its grain looks like. And whose hands it passed to, and for how many days it has been carried. The register is handed on with the tote.
The board, and the grain
Which board it was cut from, and the day the dovetails were cut. Recorded with a photograph of the grain. No two are the same.
The family name, and the days
If you wish, your family name goes in the register. From the first day it is carried, the page counts the days. Whether the name is shown is the owner's decision.
Inherited
When the tote passes to the next person, the page passes with it. The years of the one before are not erased. The tote is made of the same long-lasting wood as baths and shrines.

Twelve totes, each with its story
No. 001 is the first piece finished. From 002 the totes are made in order from October 2026. Numbers follow the order of pre-orders. As each is finished, its page fills in.

When it arrives.
Tell us the number cut inside the tote and your email. We open the tote's page in the register and start counting the days. Your family name is shown only if you wish.
What you enter is used only for the register and for messages about your tote. It is never passed to anyone else.
